About
MasteryCoding's Summer Game Development is a beginner-level program tailored for those looking to learn game design and development. It leverages the excitement of creating games to teach students computer science, mathematics, and problem-solving. With no prior experience required, students will learn JavaScript and Object-Oriented programming, computational thinking, 2D game art design and asset creation, animations, UI and UX design, and game development principles. This program emphasizes both design concepts and standard coding practices to prepare students to utilize their acquired skillset in a variety of potential career paths. Students will also complete multiple code projects to build an online portfolio.
- Project Portfolio - Building browser-based games will introduce the various career paths that exist within design and development.
- Design Portfolio - Apply concepts for game and asset design and use industry-standard workflows to create game narratives and resources.
- STEM Connections - Explore imaginative and original ideas while learning STEM disciplines and utilize those cross-disciplinary skills for current and future courses.
- Math Connections: Cross-curricular math topics like functions, variables, ratios, decimals, and linear equations are featured heavily throughout this course.
