An educational mat blending computing, geographical skills and science to introduce coding and the topic of minibeasts.

Features detailed illustration of commonly found minibeasts, aiding children in recognition and classification skills.

Children can develop their programming skills by being tasked to navigate to different minibeasts in order. The mat can also be used to develop children’s basic geographical skills by reinforcing directions and locational language.

With 15 x 15cm squares, each mat is compatible with Loti-bot, but can also be used with Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot.

In Computing, teachers can use the mat to teach programming at Key Stages 1 and 2, assisting children in designing and debugging programs.

For Geography, it enhances map skills and the use of directional language, vital for Key Stage 1.

In order to unfold the mats TTS recommends leaving them in a warm environment, or using a hair dryer to help speed up the process. The mats will gradually flatten out on their own in a warm environment, but a hair dryer can help speed up the process.
