Kemtec Science: Taste Discrimination

Target Grades: 9-12

Number of Students: 24 students working in groups of two

Can you taste it? Students explore their ability to taste four sensations: sweet, sour, salt, and bitter in a blind taste test. Students examine PTC inheritance, as well as their tendency to eat certain types of foods. An ideal biology lab for learning about genetic inheritance or for studying human anatomy. This kit features two lab experiments which can be completed in one hour or separated into two thirty minute activities.‚
