Target Grades: 10-14
Number of Students: 24 students working in six groups of four
Students will determine the amino acid sequence of a tripeptide isolated from a protein hydrolysate. The experiments in this kit enable students to determine the chain length of the peptide by formol titration, determine the amino acid content and composition of the tripeptide using chromatographic techniques to determine Rf values, and identify which amino acids are the N-terminal and C-terminal residues using solvent extraction, enzymatic digestion, and chromatographic techniques. Includes student data sheets.
