Kemtec Science: Changes in Matter

• Target Grades: 6-9
• Number of Students: 24 students working in six groups of four

Ten activities acquaint students with the classes of matter. Students are introduced to elements, compounds, mixtures, element symbols, structures of atoms, molecules, properties of common compounds, formation of compounds, and chemical reactions. Common mixtures are separated by evaporation and chromatography; properties of chemicals and newly formed compounds are observed; and chemical reactions are observed. Includes reproducible students data sheets, assessment questions, and answer keys. Required, not included: chemical splash goggles.
