  • Hours of Content: about 24.5 hours per semester
  • Additional Resources: STEM Case Study

Highlights:

  • Increased attendance

  • Strong SEL development

  • Applied, project-based learning

  • Peer mentoring

  • Easy to lead

Introducing tactile learning and problem solving is pivotal for this age group. And this is why so many schools and community organizations have implemented the Maplewoodshop woodworking program at the middle school level.

Many schools use Maplewoodshop woodworking as an elective and because we do not use any power tools, your teachers do not need a special certification and the school does not need extra insurance.

Students apply math in ways that are tactile, tangible, and satisfying in ways worksheets and tablets can never match. Students report that they don’t like math but woodworking is different even though they are practicing math skills at every step.

Every program comes with curriculum, professional development, support, portable equipment, hand tools (no power tools) and ready to use project materials.
