Lab-Aids: Introduction to Mineral Crystals Kit
Here's an inexpensive introduction to crystal forms of minerals, a basic geology unit in earth science. The kit emphasizes four basic crystal systems. Students build cubic, tetragonal, orthorhombic, and hexagonal crystal models and relate them to some minerals that take these forms (such as zircon and corundum). They also study the number and shape of crystal faces. The instruction manual has full background information, hints and answers. Students can build a total 0f 60 models (15 of each crystal model) with this kit.
